This comparison is a bit unusual and it features the car from the same stable of French automaker, the Renault. The company is gearing to launch its premium Captur SUV in India and although it is expected to price above its cousin the Duster, one cannot escape the fact that Captur is going to target the buyers of Duster among other competitors. Design, Dimensions and Space

From the design viewpoint, Renault Captur looks premium and has got a special kind of appeal to it. It's contemporary lines wrapped up in a taut and chiselled body invoke the premium feeling and thanks to the stylish headlamps upfront, the Renault Captur does demand your attention. Renault Duster, on the other hand, feels more rugged though less premium than the Captur; however, when it comes to the road presence, it triumphs the Captur owing to wider body shell and taller proportions. Interiors and Equipment

There are many commonalities between Captur and Duster when it comes to the interiors and equipment but in order to make the Captur premium, Renault has used premium quality material and stuffed this SUV with extra features. The overall design of the Captur interiors is attractive although the quality certainly could have been better. Similarly, the fit and finish also need improvement especially considering the fact that Renault is going to attract premium buyers with this upcoming SUV. In terms of equipment, both of these SUVs come with touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, dual front airbags with ABS and EBD, and cruise control. What, however, Captur additionally brings to the table is LED headlamps and DRLs, large 17-inch alloy wheels, customisable paint scheme, keyless entry with a push-button start-stop feature.

Engine and Transmission

Renault Captur and Duster not only share the platform but also the engine and transmission options. Being a premium SUV, it makes sense for Captur to feature high power output and that's the reason, the Renault will endow its 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine in the highest rate of tune the hood of the Captur. Renault Duster, on the other hand, is also available in the lower state of tune featuring the same power plant.

Price and value for money

The prices of the Renault Captur will be announced at its launch although we guesstimate that it is going to be priced in the band of Rs 12-15 lakh, making the Capture the rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep compass among others. Renault Duster range starts from Rs 8.29 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 13.45 lakh, indicating that the top version of Duster could interfere with the sales territory of upcoming Captur; however, the exact position will be apparent only when the prices of Capture will be officially announced by Renault.
