HYUNDAI EON
It’s Easy to assume a low-cost car won’t be pretty. Tata proved naysayers wrong with the cute Nano and now its Hyundai’s turn. Its new budget offering, the Eon, is a rather striking amalgamation of carefully crafted lines and some sharp details. The well-thought-out interiors are not as Spartan as we expected either with top versions getting a CD player, USB port and even tilt steering. Space though is less than a Nano’s, especially at the back. The Eon comes with a three-cylinder 814cc version of the Santro’s engine that outputs 55bhp. While refinement may be just average and performance will be reasonable for city use, the Eon will be an ace of fuel economy with Hyundai claiming a real-world figure of 21.1kpl. The best bit though will be pricing which, at under Rs 3 lakh, will make the already stylish Eon an even more attractive budget option.
